Longevity is having a moment.

Every week there’s a new podcast, molecule, supplement, or protocol promising to slow aging. NAD+. Senolytics. Biological age tests. Cold plunges. Fasting.

Some of that science is real. Some of it is hype. Most of it misses a much simpler question:

If you want to age well, what biological system should you protect first?

Many scientists consider cardiovascular health one of the most important biological systems influencing healthy aging.

Not because longevity is only about the heart, but because your cardiovascular system supports everything else. It delivers oxygen and nutrients to every organ in your body, influences metabolic health, supports brain function, and helps maintain physical performance as we age.

It’s also not a coincidence that cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death globally.¹

That doesn’t mean longevity is only about preventing heart disease. But it does mean cardiovascular health sits near the center of the longevity conversation.

The science is starting to reflect this

Recently, major cardiovascular organizations including the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology updated prevention guidance with a clear shift in emphasis: start earlier.

Rather than focusing only on treating disease later in life, the updated recommendations emphasize identifying cardiovascular risk earlier and managing lifetime exposure to risk factors over time.²

Cardiovascular health isn’t something to think about at 60. It’s something to start paying attention to decades earlier.

The part most people don’t realize

One of the reasons cardiovascular health matters so much for longevity is that decline can begin silently.

You can feel completely healthy and still experience gradual changes in vascular function over time.

The clinical study evaluating NOVOS Core describes vascular aging as a process involving:

  • Reduced endothelial function
  • Decreased arterial flexibility
  • Rising systolic blood pressure

These changes can emerge long before clinical cardiovascular disease appears.³

Longevity becomes much clearer when you think about it this way

The longevity space often talks about biology in very abstract ways. Inflammation. Mitochondria. Senescence. Epigenetics. All important topics. But they can feel disconnected from everyday health decisions.

A simpler lens is to ask:

What systems in the body actually determine how well we function as we age?

Your cardiovascular system is one of the clearest answers. It powers circulation across the entire body. Every organ depends on it. When cardiovascular function declines, the effects ripple across multiple biological systems.

That’s one reason we chose to study cardiovascular function directly when evaluating NOVOS Core.

Why this study is different from most supplement research

Most supplement studies focus on single ingredients or small biomarker changes. That’s not how this trial was designed.

The NOVOS Core study was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial in healthy adults over 40 years old.³

Participants took either NOVOS Core or placebo for six months. Researchers measured multiple functional cardiovascular biomarkers, including:

  • Circulation (flow-mediated dilation / FMD)
  • Blood vessel flexibility (pulse wave velocity / PWV)
  • Systolic blood pressure
Expert Commentary
“It has been a pleasure to watch NOVOS take a disciplined, biology-first approach, combined with a willingness to engage in rigorous evaluation rather than shortcuts, in a space that too often prioritizes hype over evidence.”
Dr. Doina Kulick, M.D.Lead Physician, Longevity Medicine Program at Mayo Clinic Arizona

What the study found

After six months, NOVOS Core produced statistically significant placebo-adjusted improvements across three independent cardiovascular biomarkers in healthy adults:

+2.9%

Circulation (FMD)

percentage points improvement

−1.18 m/s

Vessel Flexibility

pulse wave velocity

−6.1 mmHg*

Blood Pressure

systolic reduction

*For blood pressure already in the normal range.

Those numbers matter. Not just because they were statistically significant, but because they represent large effect sizes, particularly in a population that was already broadly healthy.

The study also observed an immediate improvement in endothelial function after the first dose, while lipid levels remained unchanged.³ This suggests the observed benefits were driven primarily through vascular and endothelial mechanisms rather than lipid changes.

Expert Commentary
“I was pleasantly surprised that the study showed both an acute improvement after the first dose and sustained improvement at six months. That kind of consistency is not common in supplement trials.”
Dr. Christopher Yi, M.D.Board Certified Vascular Surgeon

Why these results stand out

Any supplement can claim it “supports heart health.” What matters is whether measurable physiological changes actually occur. To understand how unusual these results were, we compared them against published nutritional and lifestyle intervention studies.

Long-term circulation & endothelial function improvement

Sustained FMD improvement (%)

  • NOVOS Core+2.9%
  • Tea (green/black)+2.3%
  • Resistance training+2.1%
  • Blueberries+2%
  • CoQ10+1.7%
  • Nitric oxide booster+1.6%
  • Folic acid+1.5%
  • Resveratrol+1.4%
  • Mediterranean diet+1.3%
  • Aerobic exercise+1.2%

The improvement in circulation (FMD) compares favorably with results reported for tea, blueberries, CoQ10, nitric oxide boosters, resveratrol, cocoa, and omega-3 fatty acids.

Long-term blood vessel flexibility improvement

PWV improvement (m/s)

  • NOVOS Core+1.18 m/s
  • DASH dietary pattern+1.08 m/s
  • Magnesium+1 m/s

  • HIIT+0.64 m/s
  • NO booster (beetroot)+0.6 m/s
  • Aerobic exercise+0.59 m/s
  • Cocoa flavanols+0.4 m/s

The improvement in blood vessel flexibility (PWV) compares favorably with results reported for magnesium, omega-3, DASH dietary patterns, cocoa flavanols, and aerobic exercise.

Long-term systolic blood pressure reduction

SBP reduction (mmHg)

  • NOVOS Core+6.1 mmHg
  • Soy nuts+5 mmHg

Expert Commentary
“The magnitude of improvement observed in the study is notable compared with what is typically reported for nutritional interventions.”
Dr. Satomi Miwa, Ph.D.Translation Biology of Aging, Biosciences Institute, Newcastle University

The healthy population result is especially important

Participants were apparently healthy adults, not individuals recruited for cardiovascular disease treatment. Baseline blood pressure values were already in a typical range for healthy adults, and lipid levels remained stable throughout the study.³

In other words, these improvements were not simply the result of correcting severe metabolic abnormalities. They occurred in people who would often be considered generally healthy.

For people thinking about longevity, that distinction matters. The goal isn’t only to treat disease once it appears. The goal is to support healthy function before disease develops.

What the study does and does not show

Scientific honesty matters.

The study demonstrates that NOVOS Core improved several biomarkers associated with cardiovascular function in healthy adults compared with placebo. It does not demonstrate prevention or treatment of cardiovascular disease, nor does it replace medical care or physician-directed treatment.

Longer studies with clinical endpoints would be required to evaluate those outcomes. What the data does show is that a formulation designed to target multiple biological mechanisms associated with aging can support measurable aspects of cardiovascular physiology.

Why family history still matters

Many people start paying attention to heart health only after someone close to them experiences a cardiovascular event. Family history remains one of the strongest predictors of long-term cardiovascular risk.

Modern prevention strategies increasingly emphasize earlier awareness and individualized risk evaluation.² That shift toward earlier awareness is one reason cardiovascular health has become such an important part of the longevity conversation.

A simpler way to think about longevity

Longevity doesn’t mean living forever. A more practical definition is maintaining function for as long as possible.

From that perspective, cardiovascular health becomes one of the most important systems to pay attention to. Your cardiovascular system works continuously throughout your life. It delivers oxygen and nutrients to every tissue in the body and supports normal physiological function across organ systems.

Supporting cardiovascular wellness may therefore play a meaningful role in maintaining long-term health and healthy aging.

The bigger picture

Longevity science is still evolving. But several themes are becoming clear.

Cardiovascular health plays a central role in overall lifespan. Many cardiovascular changes develop gradually over decades. And functional cardiovascular biomarkers can improve even in populations that are broadly healthy.

In a randomized, placebo-controlled clinical study in healthy adults, NOVOS Core improved markers associated with circulation, blood vessel flexibility, and systolic blood pressure compared with placebo.³

Across these markers, the effect sizes were among the strongest reported for a supplement in healthy adults, based on internal comparison analyses of published intervention studies.

Expert Commentary
“Taken together, improvements across endothelial function, arterial flexibility, and systolic blood pressure point to a coherent pattern consistent with a favorable shift in vascular aging biology.”
Professor Christian Heiss, MDProfessor of Cardiovascular Medicine, University of Surrey

Independent media coverage

The study’s findings were independently covered by Medical News Today, one of the most widely read health publications in the world. Their fact-checked report highlighted the trial’s randomized, placebo-controlled design and the multi-pathway mechanism behind NOVOS Core’s formulation.

As Medical News Today reported, the supplement “may help improve markers of vascular aging, including arterial flexibility and healthy blood pressure support, compared to a placebo” — results that the lead investigator attributed to the formulation’s ability to target several complementary biological pathways simultaneously.

If longevity is your goal, supporting cardiovascular health may be one of the most important places to start.
