The ingredients in NOVOS have been FDA approved and Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS).
In fact, many ingredients in NOVOS have been used for decades without any significant side effects.
Examples are ingredients like alpha-ketoglutarate (often used by athletes to increase energy and stamina), glucosamine (often used for joint health but could also extend lifespan), Rhodiola rosea (often used to improve resistance against physical stress), and magnesium malate (also used to improve energy).
Before we launched the product, we tested NOVOS long-term in 25 participants for 6-12 months or longer. There were no side effects of any clinical relevance. We specifically selected ingredients that are known to be very safe, and to have a very low side effect profile.
Furthermore, we selected for the lowest doses possible, while still enabling beneficial effects in order to minimize potential side effects. For example, in some studies people take 20 to 40 grams of glycine per day, while NOVOS contains 2 grams of glycine. This much lower dose already has many beneficial effects.
Additionally, various ingredients in NOVOS occur naturally in our body, but often levels decline during aging, such as glycine, alpha-ketoglutarate, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, NMN (NAD+ levels), etc.
Other ingredients are found in contexts where they improved health or extended lifespan in the long-term. For example, NOVOS contains microdosed lithium in similar doses as can be found in the drinking water in some regions of which studies showed that there was reduced mortality and risk of neurodegenerative diseases.
NOVOS’ first and foremost goal is to extend lifespan. In many studies, NOVOS’ ingredients were given to organisms resulting in lifespan extension. This means that whatever impact the ingredients have on cellular functioning, ultimately they result in longer lifespans, which should be the most important clinical endpoint.
During our ingredient selection process, we also convened with esteemed longevity experts from our scientific advisory board. For example, we had meetings with Dr. Pamela Maher, a world-authority on fisetin, aging and neurodegenerative diseases, regarding the optimal dose of fisetin.
For optimal safe doses, we also extrapolated from long-term animal studies, looked at doses used in humans, and studied human pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics data.
